Ms. Land, Mrs. McMahon, and Ms. Rountree are the JFK adjustment counselors. If your child has any social or emotional struggles during the school year, their expertise can be of great help. They are excited and honored to serve you and your child. Please feel free to reach out to them for support throughout the year when/if needed by email or phone.
***Confidentiality and your family's privacy are important. Discussions with a school counselor are private except in cases required by law when abuse or neglect are suspected.
Ms. Land, LCSW is in her second year at JFK and assists students and classrooms in Grades K-5. Before coming to JFK, she interned in elementary and high schools, and an afterschool program in Nashville. She loves getting to know students and working with their unique personalities. She enjoys spending time with her cat and playing music in her free time!

Mrs. McMahon, LICSW has been working in Holbrook for over 13 years and primarily services students in Grades K-2. She absolutely loves helping students and their families. Before she came to JFK, she worked in a few high schools and middle schools. She also writes adoption and foster care assessments. Mrs. McMahon lives with her husband, 2 sons, and her dog!

Ms. Rountree, LICSW is also a veteran counselor here in Holbrook. She has been here for over 13 years too. Ms. Rountree mainly services students in Grades 3-5. Before coming to JFK, she worked in many areas of the mental health field including hospitals, residential programs, and in-home therapy agencies. She loves to laugh, and uses a lot of humor with her students. Ms. Rountree enjoys spending time with her dog, Barkley!

WHAT DO SCHOOL COUNSELORS DO?
School counselors work alongside teachers and parents to help students develop socially and emotionally. They help students remove any barriers they have to learning. They counsel, educate, advocate, and empower!
SCHOOL COUNSELORS PROVIDE:
- Classroom lessons that teach social skills, how to take care of strong feelings, study skills, etc.
- Small Group Counseling
- Short-term Individual Counseling
- Consultation With Parents & Teachers
- Parent Workshops
- Community Resource Referrals (including longer term therapy services)
- Schoolwide Programming
SCHOOL COUNSELORS SUPPORT PARENTS:
- Help parents to handle social or emotional concerns about their child
- Improve Parent-Child Communication
- Help parents with family difficulties or concerns that affect their child at school
- Referrals For Community Resources
- Understanding the developmental changes of childhood
- Help parents to get the child to school on time each day
- Discuss concerns about the child's academic achievement.
