Medication At School
Guidelines For Medicines At School
Please notify the nurse if your child is taking any type of medication. You can send a note into school with your child, leave a phone message on the Health Office line, or email the school nurse. In the event of an emergency, it is essential that the health care team is aware of your child's medication use.
If your child needs to take medication during the school day, please call the Health Office at 781-767-4600 Extension #3 and make an appointment to visit with the school nurse. You will need to bring the child's medicine and a medical order from your doctor/nurse practitioner in order for the nurse to administer the medicine. You will be required to sign a parental consent with the school nurse.
Reminders
- ALL medications (prescription or over the counter) MUST BE BROUGHT INTO SCHOOL by the student's parent/guardian/adult.
- DO NOT send medications into school with your child. DO NOT put medication in your child's backpack/school bag.
- In order for the nurse to administer a specific medication for your child, a Doctor's Order must be on file in the health office.
- If your child has an Inhaler or Epi-Pen at school, new Doctor's Orders are needed for each school year.
