Computer Program Overview

Students in Grades 1-5 attend a weekly 45 minute computer class. Kindergarten has computer and library class twice a week for about 20 minutes each session.

Kindergarten students learn the parts of a computer, how to use a mouse and keyboard, and how to navigate the Internet through educational websites and games.

Grade 1 students begin keyboarding practice, continue learning with educational websites and games, and coding. Grade 1 special activity is                            Bee Bots (coding).

Grade 2 students continue keyboarding, coding, and learning with educational websites and games. They also learn about Internet safety and are introduced to Google Classroom/Suite. Grade 2 special activities are Osmo's (coding) and Stop Motion Animation.

Grade 3 students expand their knowledge of keyboarding, Internet safety, coding, and Google Classroom/Suite. They learn to develop research skills. Grade 3 special activity is Ozbots (coding).

Grades 4 & 5 students continue perfecting their keyboarding and research skills . They continue to learn about Internet Safety, coding, and Google Classroom/Suite. Grade 4 special activity is Makey Makey (circuit board activities). The special activity for Grade 5 is Movie Making (I Movie) and Bloxels (coding and gaming).

Computer After School Activity

Robotics Club

Students in Grade 5 can participate in Robotics. There are 4 sessions of the club. Each session runs for 6 weeks and is one hour long on Wednesdays from 3:15 - 4:15 PM.  Fifteen (15) students are chosen, by lottery, for each session of the club. Students build and code robots with Lego Prime kits for the first four weeks of the session. They use mini Sphero Robots for the last two weeks in each session.
